Literary Arts Boom (the L.A.B) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes creative writing and literacy by holding workshop series, regular writing workshops, and after school homework help for youth. Using 826 Valencia as a model, the LAB is developing a Mad Science Supply and Surplus Pop-Store that will share space with Assemble at 5125 Penn Avenue in Garfield. The Sprout Fund, Carnegie Mellon University and MAYA Design Inc. have contributed to the creation of the store.
Themed snacks, writing activities, fun and prototypes of products will be available at the Opening event on October 27th from 3 to 5pm.
The L.A.B. would like to work with local artists to create Mad Science Posters (click for link to pirate posters sold at 826 Valencia) that will be sold in the store. Ideally the posters will be ready in time for the opening event. Compensation and terms are negotiable and nothing is yet proposed. Please contact email@example.com with questions and/or proposals.

Monalloh loves artists, but where would we be without great art’s managers?
Saturday, October 6, 2012 will kick off the year-long 25th Anniversary Celebration with the Symposium on Arts Management and Innovation. This one-day event will take place during CMU’s annual Ceilidh Homecoming Weekend and will offer a series of interactive lectures and workshops focused on examining the ways that innovative arts management techniques improve the cultural landscape for artists, performers, communities, and audiences.
On September 28th and 29th, The Art Resource Teaching Society is hosting their first annual
interactive arts festival titled Art Squared. It is being held in Market Square, Pittsburgh from 11:00 AM through 10:00 PM both days. Over 40 Artists of various media will be creating their art while teaching/involving the public via games and creative activities. This is done to raise
awareness about the importance of art education itself. Festival proceeds directly benefit the
replacement of youth art education in Pittsburgh schools via the Art Resource Teaching Society.
